About Me
My name is Joshua Martin and I am a freelance music/arts writer, and first year RMIT journalism student based in Melbourne.

I am an editorial assistant and regular contributor at Beat Magazine, a weekly print publication and online news source based on local music, arts and culture. I also write news weekly and contribute regular feature and column stories as an intern to Mixdown Magazine, a monthly print publication and online news source dedicated to music and musicians.
Recently I have been appointed co-music editor of Verve Magazine, a monthly zine dedicated to young and upcoming creatives in Melbourne across film, visual art, music, photography, theatre and fashion.

In 2017, I wrote for Canberra's BMA Magazine, and contributed a monthly column entitled 'Slop of the Pops', exploring the fringes of experimental music.

This website is a collection of some of my work thus far. I'm inspired by, in no particular order, and for a multitude of reasons:
David Foster Wallace, Jessica Hopper, Marcus Teague, Roger Ebert, David Lynch, Joshua Tillman, Bob Dylan, Bob Woodward, Lizzy Goodman, Gareth Liddiard & Bjork.
